Auto Burglary Arrest

On July 11, 2022 multiple vehicles in our town were entered and burglarized. Several items were taken including one of the victim’s credit card. With the cooperation of the victim, our detective bureau was able to track down where the credit card was last used. Detective Berger responded to the gas station where the transaction occurred and was able to review surveillance video ultimately identifying the actor as Gustavo J. Medina out of Newark, New Jersey. A warrant was issued for Mr. Medina’s arrest for conspiracy to commit burglary, theft of moveable property, fraudulent use of a credit card and possession of a stolen credit card. Mr. Medina was apprehended by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office on July 20, 2022. Mr. Medina has been remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility awaiting his hearing. These charges are merely allegations and Mr. Medina is presumed innocent until he is found guilty in a court of law. Thank you to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Fairfield Police Department and the New Jersey State Police for your assistance!
