DWI Arrest
On September 17, 2026 at approximately 11:10 P.M., Officer Rigas conducted a motor vehicle stop on Roseland Avenue after observing several moving violations. While speaking with the driver, Officer Rigas detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage as well as other indicators consistent with someone who may be under the influence of alcohol. The driver, a 68-year-old male from Livingston, NJ, was asked to step out of the vehicle so that he could perform field sobriety tests to determine whether he could safely operate a motor vehicle. After the completion of these tests, Officer Rigas placed the driver under arrest for driving under the influence and transported him back to police headquarters. Once in headquarters, the driver submitted samples of his breath for the purpose of testing his blood alcohol content. The results showed that he was over the legal limit. He was issued several motor vehicle summonses which included driving while intoxicated and given a future court date. These charges are merely allegations and the driver is presumed innocent until he is found guilty in a court of law.
