On October 18, 2024 at approximately 5:50 A.M., Sergeant Cohen and Officer Rigas were dispatched to a residence on Windsor Place on a report of an attempted motor vehicle theft. Sergeant Cohen located a BMW which then fled the area at a high rate of speed towards Eagle Rock Avenue. Shortly after, Pompton Lakes Police advised that they were tracking a stolen BMW out of their jurisdiction that had been in the area of our attempted theft. Through a thorough investigation by Detective Berger, he was able to identify the suspect as a 22-year-old male from West Orange, NJ. On November 7, 2024, the defendant was charged with 2nd degree conspiracy to commit burglary, 2nd degree conspiracy to commit auto theft and 2nd degree receiving stolen property. He is currently being housed at the Essex County Correctional Facility. These charges against the defendant are merely allegations and he is presumed innocent until he is found guilty in a court of law.
Through further investigation Detective Berger was able to identify the other two suspects. The first suspect was identified as a 20-year-old male from Irvington, NJ.
