On March 21, 2026, at approximately 10:35 A.M., Ofc. Rigas observed a vehicle traveling Northbound on Roseland Ave. with a Georgia temporary registration affixed to the rear of the vehicle. The vehicle continued down Borough Pl., failed to stop at the stop sign and failed to signal. Ofc. Rigas conducted a motor vehicle stop and identified the driver as a 21year-old male out of Newark, NJ. Through further investigation, it was learned that the driver had an active criminal warrant out of Newark, NJ for aggravated assault. The temporary registration was also found to be fraudulent as well as the insurance card provided to Ofc. Rigas. Sgt. Leaf arrived on scene and Ofc. Rigas placed the male party under arrest and secured him in the rear of his patrol vehicle. While conducting an inventory consent search of the vehicle, the driver was found to be in possession of suspected heroin. The vehicle was towed and the driver was transported back to police headquarters. He was issued several motor vehicle summonses and charged with the following offenses: Possession of CDS, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Exhibiting a Fraudulent Insurance Card, Displaying a Forged Registration, Obstruction, Hindering and Littering. He was remanded to the Essex County Correctional Facility pending a future court date. These charges are merely allegations, and he is presumed innocent until he is found guilty in a court of law. A special thank you to Newark Police 5th Precinct for your assistance.  Â
