On August 23, 2023 Sergeant Leaf and Officer Cohen were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle due to a concerned resident. While officers were checking the area Sergeant Leaf observed a vehicle fitting the description with an equipment violation. Sergeant Leaf conducted a motor vehicle stop of the vehicle. Detective Berger responded to assist. During the duration of the motor vehicle investigation Livingston Police put out an email with the exact make, model, and registration of this vehicle for motor vehicle burglaries in their town. Also in that email was a video which showed the driver in the same clothing. Due to a vigilant resident calling immediately and a swift response from our officers, Livingston Police was able to apprehend the driver for the motor vehicle burglaries in their town and prevent a crime from occurring in Essex Fells.
