Residential Burglary

On March 20, 2022 at approximately 1915 hours our police department received a call from a resident on Forest Way reporting a burglary in progress inside his residence. The resident was able to access his cameras in the home to advise the responding officers of the exact locations of the intruders. Officer Scott Cohen, Officer Kevin Brogan, Officer Victor Gonzalez, Officer Eamon Catherina along with the assistance of Caldwell Police, Fairfield Police, North Caldwell Police, West Caldwell Police, Roseland Police and Verona Police responded to the residence. Once the officers were able to enter the residence they conducted an interior check. Officers were able to locate the two individuals, Loquinne J. Mathis of Brooklyn, NY, 18, and Imir Thompson-Wright of Jersey City, NJ, 20. Both parties were arrested without incident and were charged with Burglary, Theft, Criminal Trespass and Criminal Mischief. These charges against Mr. Mathis and Mr. Thompson-Wright are merely allegations and they are presumed innocent until they are found guilty in a court of law. On behalf of Chief Volker and our police department we would like to thank all assisting agencies.
