On Tuesday, February 22, 2022, Detective Jonathan Berger conducted a motor vehicle stop for speeding, no front license plate and tinted windows on Eagle Rock Avenue. Due to the officers’ training and experience he had the male driver of Caldwell, 29, step out of the vehicle to conduct several field sobriety tests to determine whether he was able to operate a motor vehicle safely. Detective Berger came to the conclusion he was unable to operate a motor vehicle safely and he was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Once in headquarters Officer Leigh Leaf conducted a Drug Recognition Expert Evaluation and determined the driver was under the influence of a drug. The driver was released without incident and was issued four motor vehicle summonses. These charges are merely allegations and the driver is presumed innocent until he is found guilty in a court of law.
